The build-up
Parts to make = quantity × (1 + scrap allowance), rounded up. Machine time = setup + (cycle + inspection) × parts to make; machine cost = that time × machine rate. Labour = setup time × setup rate + run time × run rate × attendance (0.5 when one operator tends two machines). Material = parts to make × cost per part; tooling = a fixed amount for the lot plus a consumable amount per part. Overhead is a percentage on top of the direct cost; margin is a percentage of the price, so price = cost ÷ (1 − margin).
Setup share and the marginal part
Setup share is the fraction of the lot cost that is setup (machine and labour, with overhead). When it passes 40 % the page says so: at that point the lot size and the setup time move the price more than any rate does. The marginal cost is what one additional part would add at the same setup — the floor for a "can you do ten more?" question.
What it does not decide for you
No rate, time or percentage is assumed — a wrong machine rate gives a wrong price with the same confidence. Freight, outside processes such as plating or heat treatment, payment terms, rework and warranty are outside the build-up. Currency is whatever your rates are in.
