Landed Cost & Marketplace Profit Calculator

Per-product profit after landed cost (unit cost, freight, duty) and selling fees at your own marketplace, payment and shipping rates, with margin, break-even.

What each product really makes after everything between the supplier and the buyer, and the lowest price that still breaks even — from the fee schedule you actually pay, not an embedded one.

Example: Sold at 49.99 with an 18.00 cost and 4.50 freight, a product lands at 22.50; a 15 % marketplace fee, 0.30 fixed and 2.9 % payment fee take 9.25, leaving 18.24 (36.5 %). Break-even 27.77.

BUILT TO BE UNDERSTOOD

Everything before the sale,
everything taken from it.

What landed cost includes, how selling fees are applied, and why no marketplace rates are built in.

Landed cost

Landed cost is what a unit costs by the time it is on your shelf: the supplier price, the inbound freight allocated per unit, import duty as a percentage of the unit cost, and any other per-unit costs (inspection, packaging, prep). Duty is applied to the unit cost here; if your customs value includes freight, add that to the base or enter the duty as an amount in the other-costs field.

Selling fees, profit and break-even

Fees taken from the sale are a marketplace percentage of the price, a fixed amount per order, a payment-processing percentage, and outbound shipping when you pay it. Profit is price less landed cost less fees; margin divides by price, ROI by landed cost — the two answer different questions (share of the sale versus return on the cash tied up). Because percentage fees scale with price, the break-even price is (landed + fixed + outbound) ÷ (1 − fee %), not landed cost plus fees. Units per period turn the per-unit figures into totals and a blended margin.

Why the rates are yours

Marketplace fees vary by platform, category, seller plan, fulfilment method and country, and they change; a calculator with built-in rates is wrong for most sellers most of the time. Take the percentages and fixed fees from your own fee schedule or a recent settlement statement and enter them per product. Referral fees, fulfilment fees, storage, advertising, returns and taxes are all costs you can fold into the fields provided, but the page does not know them. Nothing leaves the browser; the same four anonymous usage counts as the rest of the site apply.

  • Landed cost and contribution margin as standard cost-accounting definitions — arithmetic only; marketplace, payment and carrier rates are entered by the user from their own fee schedules
