How many cartons fit a pallet or container from carton and deck dimensions: per layer, layers, total, weight cap and pallets needed, by a stated stacking rule.
Cartons per layer and per pallet in the best of the tried orientations, the stack height and load weight, footprint and cube use, and how many pallets an order needs.
Example: 400 × 300 × 250 mm cartons on a 1200 × 1000 deck with 1500 mm to stack: 9 per layer (3 × 3), 6 layers, 54 cartons — 90 % of the footprint and of the cube; at 8.5 kg each the load is 459 kg.

Exactly how cartons are counted per layer, how height and weight cap the load, and what a real pallet pattern may do better.
The rule
For each orientation of the carton on the deck — its length along the deck length, or across it — the page lays a block of ⌊deck length ÷ carton length⌋ by ⌊deck width ÷ carton width⌋ cartons, then fills whichever leftover strip (along the width or the length) holds more cartons turned 90°. The orientation with the higher count wins. Layers are ⌊usable height ÷ carton height⌋, and the total is per-layer × layers. With "allow upright" the four side and end orientations are tried as well. The counts are exact for this rule; the rule itself is a common heuristic, and interlocked, pinwheel or mixed-layer patterns can sometimes fit more.
Weight, overhang, and pallets needed
If a maximum load and a carton weight are given, the count is capped at ⌊max load ÷ carton weight⌋ and the page says the limit is weight, not space; the stack height then reflects the layers actually used. Overhang per side widens the footprint by that amount on each edge; it is counted honestly but flagged, since overhanging cartons get damaged and some carriers refuse them. Footprint use is the share of the deck area the layer covers; cube use is the share of the deck × height volume the cartons fill. "Pallets needed" divides an order quantity by the cartons per pallet and rounds up.
What the tool does not decide
Stack stability, crush strength of the cartons at the bottom, column versus interlocked stacking, the pallet's own weight and height (enter usable height above the deck and net load), and container door or corner-post constraints. Enter all dimensions in one unit; the page does not convert. Nothing you enter leaves the browser; the same four anonymous usage counts as the rest of the site apply.
