Shipping Cost per Unit & per kg
Allocate a shipment’s freight, surcharges, insurance and duties across its lines by weight, volume or units: cost per unit, per kg and as a share of value.

The total
Freight, surcharges, insurance and duties you enter are summed into one shipping cost. Overall it is expressed per unit, per kilogram (or pound) and per cubic metre (or foot), plus as a percentage of the goods value when values are given.
Allocating to lines
Each line receives the share of the total equal to its share of the key: weight, volume or unit count. By weight, dense lines pay more; by volume, bulky ones; by units, every piece the same. Carriers often bill on the greater of actual and dimensional weight, so the "right" key is a business decision — the page shows all three overall rates and applies the one you choose.
Duties and detail
Real duties are assessed per line at their own rates; entering them as one lump and allocating by weight is a simplification the page states.
