BUILT TO BE UNDERSTOOD

Eight periods,
one set of hours.

How each period is derived, what paid weeks and days off change, and the quick check.

The conversion

The pay you enter is divided by the hours its period covers to get an hourly rate, then multiplied by the hours in every other period. Hours come from your schedule: hours per day × days per week = a week; × paid weeks = a year; a month is a year ÷ 12, a half-month ÷ 24, a quarter ÷ 4, two weeks = 2 × a week. Daily is the hours in one working day.

Paid weeks and days off

Paid weeks below 52 mean unpaid time off: the annual figure covers only the paid weeks, and the monthly figure is that annual ÷ 12. Paid days off do not change the pay; they reduce the days actually worked, so the page also shows pay per day worked = annual ÷ (days per week × paid weeks − paid days off).

Quick check and limits

The "× 2 000" rule (hourly × 2 000 ≈ annual) assumes 40 hours for 50 weeks and is shown for comparison only. All figures are gross: no tax, overtime premium or benefit is included. Nothing leaves the browser; the same four anonymous usage counts as the rest of the site apply.

SOURCES

  • Hourly = amount ÷ hours in the period; hours per year = hours per day × days per week × paid weeks; month = year ÷ 12, half-month = year ÷ 24, quarter = year ÷ 4, two weeks = 2 × week; gross pay only
